Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot to make Eurovision appearance
It's still unclear whether the Israeli actress, who plays the comic book superhero, will appear live on stage or via satellite but she will apparently perform pro bono; last year's winner Netta Barzilai also set to perform.
Israeli actress Gal Gadot is set to take part in next month’s Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, according to a statement released Monday by the event’s organizers.
In May, shortly after Israel won the right to host the event - following Netta Barzilai’s winning performance during last year’s competition -Gadot received an official offer to host the prestigious event but opted to decline.
Although it remains unknown whether the actress who plays Wonder Woman will appear live or via satellite, Eurovision’s Editor-in-Chief and Lead Director, Yuval Cohen said at a press conference Gadot will not get paid for her appearance.
Earlier it was confirmed that pop diva, Madonna, will perform at the Grand Final on May 18, after months long negotiations between the singer’s representatives and the contest's organizers.
The Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams has apparently agreed to foot the bill for Madonna's performance.
In addition, last year’s winner Barzilai will also perform not only at Grand Final but during one of the semifinals as well, where she will sing a new rendition of her last year’s winning song “Toy.”
Israel’s previous Eurovision winner - Dana International - who won the competition back in 1998, is also set to belt out a tune at both the final and one of the semifinals.
